Ashlee's Questions:

  3. What is your most hated chore? Hmm.. It's between washing dishes and folding clothes.
  4. What's your favorite song? I can't choose just one, but if I had to it would be Whitney's classic "The Greatest Love of All".
  5. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? That's a tough one. I would like to learn how to surf.
  6. Do you get mistaken for a celebrity? If so, who? Ha, once I was visiting my cousin in FL and we were at the mall, these girls thought I was Alicia Keys, so my cousin walks by me and says (loud enough) "C'mon Alicia!" (my hair was done in cornrows.)
  7. Do you visit PerezHilton.com? I can say I've never been on that site.
  8. What was the last book you read? The last one was called "Songs of Deliverance" by Marilynn Griffith it's the sequel to "Rhythms of Grace." Now I'm reading "Hunger Games"!
  9. Were you named after anyone? I don't think so.
  10. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? It depends on what shoes I'm wearing.

Beanies Made

Here are a couple of beanies I recently whipped up. The first one is from a pattern in Ravelry called Brain Waves Beanie by Liz McQueen. I was looking at some of her other patterns and she makes some great designs. I can't figure out how to top my floppy sun hat! This beanie is a free download from Ravelry. There are really so many options when it comes to the colors you want to use. Mine is pretty simple with just two colors. I used the recommended size I hook and cotton yarn. I was thinking of making another one with different shades of blue.

This one was made with my leftover yarn from the last floppy hat I made. I just kind of winged it and this is what I came up with. It actually happened to match the shirt that I was wearing when I made it.

Show n Tell

I finally finished and posted the second part of the video for the Floppy Sunhat Pattern. That one is pretty repetitive, so there are a lot of fast forward parts. I hope it is clear enough. The lighting was kind of bad. I'm still working on that. Parts of it were a little blurry too. Sorry about that. Phew, other than that, I'd say it was a success!

Well here is another Floppy Sun Hat that was recently made by Dee with my pattern. Thanks for sending the pic Dee, it looks great!

If you made this hat or any of my other patterns, I would love to see how it turned out. I'll only post your pics with your permission.

Floppy Sun hat Video

I've had quite a few questions on my floppy sun hat pattern. Instead of trying to explain some things, it would be easier to show you. So I decided to do a video and hopefully that will make everything clearer. It took a while to get this done, so my apologies to anyone who has been anticipating the posting of this video. I didn't realize how much work it takes to make a video.

I had to turn the sound off because I had a lot of interruptions along the way. I'm sure you don't want to hear screaming kids and whatever else was going on in my house. Maybe you do, but I don't want you to. ;)

I will also put the video in the post with the pattern. If you have any questions just leave a comment. I've never done a pattern video before so I hope everything is easy to see for everyone.

Here is part one of the Floppy Sun Hat Video.

and here is part 2.

Boot Fringe

My brother asked me to make him some fringe for his boots to complete his new costume. If you didn't know, he is a professional wrestler. Not WWE, but CCW, Classic Championship Wrestling, an independent wrestling federation. If you've ever watched wrestling on TV, you know that every wrestler has some kind of gimmick and a cool costume. My bro's name is  Lobo, formally known as Lobo Loco. His colors are orange and black.

These are the boot fringe that I whipped up for him. They are made from tee shirts from the thrift store. Unfortunately I only have pictures of the final piece, but I can give you an idea of what I did. If you really want to see step by step, just leave a comment and I'll be happy to make a tutorial for it. I cut two rectangles from one orange and one black tee, about 18 by 15 inches. I made sure to keep t-shirt's bottom seam intact. Then I used a rotary cutter to make my strips, about half an inch wide, but not cutting all the way up. Tug on the strips to make them roll up a bit. I sewed the black rectangle on top of the orange at the top, added elastic and hand sewed the circle closed for each. When that was all done I trimmed the strips at the bottom so they were all even. It was pretty easy. I'll update with a pic the next time Lobo gets his whole costume on. The fringe will start at the top of his boot to about his ankle. I had to go off of the measurements he gave me since we live in different states.

Free Money for Blogging

Has anyone ever tried Social Spark? It's a way to make money from blogging by linking you with advertisers. I'm fairly new to it and apparently my blog does not quite qualify yet. It looks like I just need to post more and then I'll be good to go. Of course, life gets in the way of posting more. If only I could be a stay at home mom and blog all day. "Be careful what you wish for!" That's what someone just said in my head. I wouldn't want to lose my job! Anyway, if anyone has any input on your Social Spark experiences, please let me know. If you'd like to sign up for a Social Spark account or get more info just click the link below!
